My dad and I built the boat.  The frames, chine, and stem are Douglas Fir. Skin is of AC fir plywood. All of the seams were taped with fiberglass tape, then the entire outside of the hull was fiberglassed. Inside was sealed with epoxy prior to paint.  All decking, mid rail and rear seat is glued up cypress. Decking was sealed with straight epoxy mix, topsides were finished with Spar Varnish, inside was primed with Interlux primer then coated first with a West Marine poly paint mixed with non-skid material. Hull was primed with Interlux primer and finished with 3 coats of Interlux brightsides. Stainless steel fasteners were used throughout. A brand spankin' new Yamaha 15 hangs off the transom. Boat comes to plane well and rides quite dry even in unsettled seas in and around the Pamlico Sound here in eastern NC.
Thanks again for the plans. I highly recommend the Darkwater skiff to anyone looking for a stable fishing or boating platform in a smaller package. The boat plan allows for modification to suit all needs.

Take care. Paul Gray

UPDATE:
Henry,
Just wanted to forward you a few pics of my finished Darkwater Skiff. We added a cypress deck and removable rear seat. We also plan on adding cypress decking as a floor. The boat was a joy to build. It was a great project and, in my opinion, looks great!  Of course, not only does it look good, but it handles very well. I chose not to add the spray rails.

Thanks again for the great plans.
Paul
